Two electric scissor lifts offer 12m maximum working height, yet one is marketed for rough terrain and the other as a standard electric model. Outdoor use alone does not decide the purchase. A firm level paved yard and an unfinished construction site impose very different equipment requirements.
Published model specification examples
| Specification | 1012E standard | 1018RE rough terrain | Purchase implication |
|---|---|---|---|
| Working height | 12.0m | 12.0m | Height alone cannot decide |
| Platform load | 320kg | 450kg | Check actual work load |
| Stowed width | 1.17m | 1.77m | Check every access point |
| Ground clearance | 0.10m | 0.22m | Not ground-support approval |
| Machine weight | 2,815kg | 4,510kg with outriggers | Confirm shipping and support |
| Published gradeability | 25% | 35% | Not operating tilt |
Source scope: manufacturer-published data for named versions only; model revision, operating conditions and the quoted configuration must be rechecked before purchase.
1. Document the complete access route and worksite
Record unloading point, ground material, width, turns, slopes, trenches, covers and any soft or uncertain load-bearing areas. An outdoor-rated standard electric lift may be suitable on confirmed firm, level ground. The label “rough terrain” never authorizes use on every unstable surface.
2. Compare published configurations
In the manufacturer examples below the rough-terrain model has greater platform load and ground clearance, but is much wider and heavier. Both are electric. Do not recast this comparison as electric versus diesel.
3. Two screening cases
Example A: a level outdoor site has a fixed 1.40m access opening. The 1.17m 1012E passes the width screen; the 1.77m 1018RE fails. Example B: 400kg combined platform load excludes the 320kg standard lift; the 450kg rough-terrain model passes only an initial load screen. Neither outcome replaces a review of turning, outdoor ratings, extension-deck capacity and ground support.
4. Separate driving gradeability from working inclination
Published 25% or 35% gradeability describes specified travel ability, not the slope on which the platform may be raised. Confirm the actual permissible operating tilt, ground conditions and any outrigger requirements in the applicable manual.
5. Compare price after suitability
For each eligible option request full machine specifications, the exact outrigger version, equipment price, packaging, freight, destination cost, charger and delivery schedule. Greater weight can change shipment costs, but freight cannot be inferred by scaling weight alone.
6. Supplier message
Subject: RFQ — Outdoor Scissor Lift We require [ ]m working height and [ ]kg load in [country]. Please review the attached access-route photographs and ground description. Recommend a suitable standard-electric or electric rough-terrain model; confirm permitted outdoor working conditions, platform ratings, stowed dimensions, weight, outrigger requirements and a complete quotation. Identify site checks still needed.
Ask Levantis for comparable China quotes
Levantis can help Chinese suppliers compare eligible standard-electric and rough-terrain options after you share the required work height, load, access dimensions and site conditions. Ground engineering and safe-use assessments remain site-specific.
