A Chinese supplier recommends upgrading your planned 10-metre electric scissor lift to a 12-metre model for a modest premium. More height could serve additional jobs, but the wider or heavier machine may not reach your customers’ sites. Decide first whether a model is usable, then whether its extra capability is worth its delivered-price difference.

1. Clarify the height requirement
Working height and platform height are not interchangeable. A machine marketed as a 12m working-height lift may have a 10m maximum platform height. Ask separately for indoor and outdoor working height, platform height and stowed height. A lift suitable for an indoor requirement may be insufficient outdoors.
2. Compare actual models
The manufacturer-published examples below show that increased height also changes width, platform capacity and machine weight. The figures identify specific models rather than universal specifications for every Chinese 8m, 10m or 12m lift.
3. Screen out unsuitable options before obtaining prices
Illustrative brief: indoor working height at least 9.5m, access opening 1.05m, combined occupants-and-tools load 200kg. The 0608ME lacks height; the 1012E is too wide; the 0808E passes these three initial checks. It still requires turning-clearance, stowed-height, floor, outdoor-limit and other verification. If the job moves outdoors, the 0808E’s published outdoor maximum of 8m changes the conclusion.
4. Compare only eligible delivered quotations
Ask for the exact model and revision, standard options, battery and charger, price, Incoterms® 2020 rule and named place, packing measurements, shipping and destination charges and readiness date. The incremental cost of upgrading is the delivered cost of the higher model minus the delivered cost of the basic eligible model. Do not assume a higher mast automatically creates rental demand.
5. Send the supplier a precise RFQ
Subject: RFQ — Electric Scissor Lift Height Comparison We are comparing 8m, 10m and 12m working-height classes for [country]. Required working height: [ ]m; load: [ ]kg; maximum access width: [ ]m; indoor/outdoor use: [ ]. Recommend the lowest-height model that meets every requirement. Quote a taller alternative separately and explain its benefits, added cost, dimensions and weight. Include the exact configuration, Incoterms® 2020 term with named place and lead time.
